French Theme Night Entertainment

On March 27th our fantastic accordionist Harry Barnwell  provided the French Themed Entertainment at Hennerton Golf Club. We booked a flamenco guitarist and dancer for their Spanish theme night last year and both nights have been a great success and we are looking forward to providing music for all their themed events over the next 2 months.

The evening was a great success and Harry played wandering around the tables as well as seated with his PA system.

1920’s Dancing Girls now available to hire!

Vintage and Gatsby is a very popular theme at the moment. This group of professional dancers have performed at many events this year, incorporating “Meeting and Greeting” guests followed by a Top Hat and Tails number.

Later on they perform the original Charleston and then get male members of the audience to join in with the routine. These girls are sure to bring glamour and glitz to the evening.

The girls were recently on The Graham Norton Show, and this is what the stage manager had to say about their performance: “I’m glad you had such a good day, and thank you so much, everyone was really impressed with how professional the girls were and how great they looked. I will definitely be in touch in the future” Lynda McGrory, Stage Manager, The Graham Norton Show BBC2

Check out this YouTube video of a sample of one of their mesmerising performances, which seems as it if is straight out of the 1920s itself!

If you are interested in booking The Charleston Girls for your party, wedding or other event, then check out their profile in the following link : http://www.findaperformer.net/act/1124

A Toastmaster will add a certain style, distinction and panache to any formal or informal ceremony, event or celebration. The Toastmaster offers the traditional services of greeting and announcing guests and introducing speeches and toasts, but combines these with the roles of advisor, organiser, presenter, communicator and diplomat. His duties relieve the host of worry and stress, and include overseeing the smooth running of the event.

Advice for live music during your wedding

While the newly-wed couple may be off having their photographs taken, your guests can enjoy live music during the drinks and canapés. Classical music is traditional during the Ceremony, but many musicians can also play a wide range of popular music, jazz and songs from the West End. You may want to consider having something more upbeat like a Spanish guitar duo, jazz duo, pianist, vocalist or saxophone player.

Depending on your budget, you may choose to book a harpist for the Ceremony & Drinks Reception, then a string quartet, pianist or classical guitarist during your meal. If you want to book a string quartet during the meal, check with your venue that there will be enough room with the number of guests you have. You may have to settle for a trio, duo or soloist. If the speeches are at the end of your meal, the musician will normally pack up and leave just before they start. If you are paying cash on the day, then delegate this job to the best man and ask him to pay the act before the speeches begin.

Public liability insurance and amplification

Public Liability Insurance

Many wedding venues will insist on all musicians having Public Liability insurance and require proof of this. All professional musicians should have this as part of their membership of the Musicians Union. PAT Tests are electrical safety checks carried out on electrical appliances and many venues will also insist on seeing certificates (or dated green stickers) for all electrical items (amplifiers, PA systems, lighting equipment).

In general, most harpists and string quartets will not amplify. If you have 120 – 140 guests or more, then you might want to hire an act that can provide their own amplification. 99% of classical guitarists will amplify and bring their own equipment with them as it is not as loud as other instruments when plucked. The music will still be in the back- ground, but it will be heard. During the Ceremony, while guests are quiet, it is not always necessary to use amplification.
